Editorial transparency

How we rank eSIM plans

This is how we select, weight and display offers so you can compare plans with clear, easy-to-read criteria.

Purpose and principles

eSIMPlanet does not sell eSIM plans ourselves. We aggregate offers from third-party providers and publish informational content so you can compare price, data allowance and typical use before you buy.

We always separate independent editorial content from sponsored placement or paid visibility. A highlighted plan is not “best” by definition: we explain what labels mean (for example price per gigabyte, compatibility, minimum validity or network policy) so you stay in control of your choice.

Criteria used in our comparison tables

Depending on the page or filters in use, rankings may include some or all of the following. These criteria are not weighted the same on every page; they mainly reflect common traveller needs.

  • Brand and how the plan is presented

Commercial name of the operator or eSIM product, plus visual cues that help you recognise the plan and the provider on our site.

  • Price discounts

Public promo codes or time-limited deals, and cashback or loyalty points when we can verify them at the time we write or refresh the page.

  • Total price for the trip you have in mind

Best total price for a given destination, data bundle and validity period on the table we are showing.

  • Price per gigabyte

Average cost per GB so you can compare different bundle sizes when multiple data amounts appear in the same grid.

  • Best offer for a chosen trip length

Rankings focused on common travel windows (for example 5, 7 or 14 days, or another range stated in the caption).

  • Phone compatibility

General eSIM compatibility notes when we check OEM or provider documentation.

  • Network and data policy

Important details when they appear in the published terms (for example 4G-only service, throttling after a threshold, or restrictions on certain app types).

  • Hotspot and shared use

Whether mobile hotspot is allowed, how many devices may share the connection, or other usage limits when the provider states them clearly.

  • Cashback totals or per-volume ranking

Rankings that emphasise post-purchase rewards when several tiers exist under comparable conditions.

  • Stated speeds or our own field tests

Whenever we publish our own measurements or summarise verifiable user feedback, we say so next to the numbers.

How the site is funded

Being open about revenue keeps things clear for readers and regulators alike. Two streams can appear on the same page: paid placements that are clearly labelled, and affiliate or ad revenue linked to visits you send our way.

Paid visibility in specific slots

Some tables reserve the first four rows where advertisers may buy extra visibility. That does not change how we aggregate the rest of the rankings: outside those slots the formula stays the same.

We flag this clearly (“sponsored”, “partner visibility”, wording may vary). A boosted plan appears only in the reserved slots, not as an overall verdict for the whole table.

Site-wide affiliate links

Outside those labelled zones we may earn a commission when you complete a purchase via our links. That may or may not match cashback shown on the provider’s checkout; either way we use the headline price after checks and updates to prioritise rows.

A potential commission is separate from usefulness on landing: no provider pays us to secretly rewrite free comparison rows against verifiable data.

Where affiliation is not workable, we may show regulated third‑party display ads that do not control your editorial ranking.

Content types

The table summarises editorial intent; on-page wording still applies when a module is hybrid or experimental.

Country-wide comparison or multi-plan gridCore editorial: automated weighting plus human review for outliers.Up to four rows may include paid placement when inventory allows.

Best price by trip duration or best price by data volume pageStrict sort on the stated metric until you reach sponsored zones.A sponsored row does not automatically lead outside those zones if the metric does not justify it.
Cashback briefings, price alerts or seasonal roundupsNews-style pieces checked by editors, typically outside direct sales loops.May include clearly separated partner callouts away from the main table.

Updates and reader feedback

Last update of price data: today (Sunday, July 19, 2026).

We review prices every day and keep refreshing them so the tables stay as close to reality as possible: automation plus human checks help what you see reflect the provider’s published price at the moment we process our feeds.

Travel spans time zones, currencies and short-lived promos; a small gap can still appear between our last crawl and your checkout on the operator’s site. When that happens, a precise note (page, country, screenshot, date) helps us tighten things further.

A wider incident (catalogue bug or shared data glitch) may lead to a footnote under the grid while several third-party tools catch up.

Frequently asked questions

Can an advertiser pay to rewrite my entire ranking?
No. Premium slots only affect designated rows. The rest of the table keeps the metric logic described on the page. We log when a partner flags a factual error, but the final call stays with editors after verification.
Does “best price” mean the plan is perfect for me?
It usually means the lowest total or per-unit cost among the offers we had when we compiled or refreshed the source. Depending on your needs (specific networks, voice, guaranteed speed or airport pickup), another row may suit you better even if it costs a little more.
How do I report a different price after I click through?
Send the eSIMPlanet URL, destination, a timestamp and a screenshot from the operator. We trace the flow to checkout and either refresh the feed or add a temporary notice until the third party confirms.
Who funds eSIMPlanet?
Mainly commissions on purchases through our links, plus clearly labelled visibility deals when relevant, and sometimes display ads where affiliation is not viable on that surface.
Legally, what separates a sponsored unit from editorial wording?
Sponsorship must be obvious before you interact (badges, colour or fixed phrasing in our module rules). Editorial claims should be checkable against a third-party source or our own tests when we state it that way.
How often do tables reflect near real-time pricing?
We review and update prices daily, with automation plus targeted checks when a feed looks wrong. A minute or two can still separate your visit from a lightning deal or last operator price change; on some destinations we also show when data was last taken into account if that helps readability.
